I attended the Math and Science specialty center at Clover Hill High School in Midlothian, Virginia. After high school, I was accepted into the Honors College at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), and began my studies in Fall 2023.
At VCU, I was certain of my major immediately, and enrolled in the College of Engineering as a Mechanical Engineering student. It combined my love for invention and design with complex problem solving, which felt like a perfect application of the tools I had learned through my personal work. My coursework has allowed me to design more complex systems and take ownership of projects, and this has reinforced the joy I find in building something new. I am also extremely interested in the applications of nuclear technology to spaceflight and the importance of radiation considerations for long-term space travel, and I added a Nuclear Engineering concentration to my degree to pursue this interest. I'm also pursuing an Aerospace Engineering minor to become more familiar with the materials, structures, and systems used in spaceflight. I hope to come back to education later in my life to enroll in a doctorate program studying material science or autonomy. I've had a great experience with undergraduate research at VCU and I would love to continue onto a more ambitious research project later on.
After beginning college, I found my place within a number of student organizations and projetcs. I was a part of the Mechanical Team for Hyperlabs before becoming their Electromechanical team lead, where we designed a vehicle capable of competing in the Intelligent Ground Vehicles Competition. I also became the Vice President of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society chapter at VCU, and joined other professional organizations such as AIAA and ASME. I also obtained my L1 high-powered rocketry certification while working with Ram Rocketry at VCU.
I have a 3.62 GPA, and I've been on the Dean's List since Fall 2023 (5/5 semesters). I've also taken several advanced engineering courses, the most relevant being: Robotics (EGMN 427), Aircraft Flight & Design (EGMN 581), CAE Design (EGMN 420), Probabilistic Risk Assessment (EGMN 530), Aerospace Materials (EGMN 586), Nuclear Reactor Theory (EGMN 352),Modern Physics (PHYS 320), Fluid Mechanics (EGMN 301) Project Management (SCMA 350), Heat Transfer (EGMN 302), and Thermal Systems Design (EGMN 303)
